Reclaim Your Time, Reclaim Your Peace

As mothers, our most precious resource is time. Yet, many of us feel frazzled, unproductive, and rushed. During a recent co-working session for The Mother’s Empowerment Sisterhood, we explored how to manage time in a way that feels empowering, rather than draining. Here’s what came up, and how you can use these insights to shift from overwhelm to intention.

Time Audit: Aligning Your Calendar with Your Values A great place to start is to take a step back and do a time audit. Look at your weekly calendar and ask yourself, “Are the things I’m doing aligned with my values?” If not, where are you losing time?

One woman in our co-working session, Katie, acknowledged how family obligations sometimes take precedence over her personal values. The important thing here is balance—not necessarily perfection. By tracking how you use your time and how much rest you truly need, you can begin to make empowered choices.

Let Go of "Shoulds" Moms, especially those of us who are recovering people-pleasers, often feel like we must live up to expectations—whether from society, family, or even ourselves. How many times have you scheduled things on your calendar that don't bring you joy or align with your values, simply because you think you should do them?

Katie shared how she struggled with housework—something she doesn’t particularly enjoy but feels obligated to do. This is where it’s crucial to question the "shoulds" in our life. Could you delegate certain tasks or approach them with a new mindset?

Rest Is Not Optional One of the most powerful takeaways from our co-working session was the emphasis on rest and recovery. Katie mentioned that after working at a horse barn for four hours, she had to sleep for 22 hours. Her experience reminds us that time managment is not just about doing—it also includes resting, recharging, and honoring your body’s needs. Over time, as you balance your activities and listen to your body, you'll notice your capacity to handle tasks will grow. Tracking these patterns can help you stay aware of your energy levels and make adjustments.

Track Your Progress Tracking isn’t just for time spent on tasks—it’s also for how you feel energetcially.

Here are some of my Fave trackers:

  1. Habitica: This gamified app turns your daily tasks and habits into a role-playing game. You can earn points, level up,and unlock rewards by completing your goals. https://habitica.com/

  2. Toggl Track: A time tracking app that helps you understand how you spend your time and identify areas for improvement. https://toggl.com/

  3. RescueTime: This app automatically tracks how you spend your time on different websites and apps, providing insights into your productivity patterns. https://www.rescuetime.com/

I especially love how tracking helps you see how your capacity to rest, work, and thrive evolves over time.

Embrace Intentional Time Management By learning to audit and track your time, align your tasks with your values, and track your energy, you can reclaim your most precious resource—your time. And when your time aligns with your values, you’ll feel less frazzled and more at peace. You have the power to shift from being rushed and overwhelmed to intentional and empowered.

Join us in The Mother’s Empowerment Sisterhood, where we offer monthly co-working sessions (and sooo much more), giving you the space to reflect and realign. Your time is precious— use it wisely.
